Upcoming Tax & Financial Deadlines
As tax season picks up speed, there are some important dates and deadlines coming up to make note of and discuss with your clients.
April:
- April 30: Usual T1 individual tax filing deadline, but this year’s deadline is May 2.
- : Interest relief ends on taxes due on 2020 T1 for pandemic support recipients with taxable income under $75,000; interest will be charged after this date.
- Form T1135, Foreign Income Verification Statement
- Late elections for pension income splitting for 2018 expire April 30, 2022
- T400A: Notice of Objection File on the later of one year after filing due date or 90 days after receipt of Notice of Assessment or Reassessment or Determination

- May 1: Claim for Canada Recovery Sickness and Caregiving Benefits can be made for Period 84
- May 2: Individual tax filing deadline for 2022
- May 3: Interest is charged on tax balance due
- May 7: Pandemic supports end, unless extension announced
- May 19: Apply, amend, or increase CRHP claims for Oct 24 to Nov 20, 2021 (CRHP Per.22)
- May 20: CCB Payment
- Will and estate planning review

- June 15: T1 proprietorship filing deadline, quarterly tax instalment remittance, Closer Connection Exception Statement for Aliens (IRS Form 8840); extension to file US tax return (IRS Form 4868)

- June 23: Estimated Timeline: Apply, amend or increase CRHP claims for Nov 21 to Dec 18, 2021 (CRHP Per.23)
