Tax Season 2018: Your Advice Starts Here and Now

Tax and financial advisors are in agreement—the Canada Revenue Agency’s audit practices are more aggressive than ever. Now that the deadline has passed for filing 2017 personal income tax, it’s already time to prepare your clients for success in the 2018 tax season. Knowledge Bureau offers the education and support you need to mitigate the tax-audit risks that could cost you and your clients, and maximize their benefits and deductions.

Join us at the Spring CE Summits and start the season off right; be sure to register before the May 15 deadline!

With aggressive audit practices, and criticized service standards at the CRA, as the 2018 tax season begins, your sound financial advice is more valuable to Canadians than ever before. At Knowledge Bureau’s Spring CE Summits this May and June, tax educator Evelyn Jacks will cover the most commonly audited issues, together with tax changes for 2018, so you and your teams are prepared to deliver.

The objective: dig deep through a peer-to-peer discussion format so you produce audit-proof tax returns, particularly in the areas that carry enhanced audit risks, such as:

  • Childcare claims and the Canada Child Benefit, which both affect a large number of families
  • Deductions for out-of-pocket employee expenses
  • TFSA Returns and RRSP Excess Contributions affecting investors
  • Pension income splitting and installment optimization for retirees
  • Passing along the cottage
  • New Tax on Split Income Rules for small business owners

Evelyn will be joined by experienced experts in each city including two of Canada’s most prolific cross-border experts, Dean Smith and Russell Vert who will demystify the latest in U.S. tax reforms, especially pertinent to business owners and Canadians who own property in the U.S. in light of the recent NAFTA discussions. Check out our newly updated agenda for further details on the topics we’ll be covering starting in Winnipeg on May 29, Calgary May 30, Vancouver May 31, and Toronto on June 6.

Early registration for these essential financial seminars ends May 15. Register today for the best available rates.  Form your tables of six, help members of your team become industry leaders and earn 10 CE credits. This is a can’t-miss event that sets you up for success and improves the quality of advice that you’re able to provide in 2018.
