RSVP Now: Year-End Investment & Business Planning Workshops

October marks the official start of “year-end tax planning season,” and this year there are numerous areas of concern for tax and financial advisors to cover with their clients. The Distinguished Advisor Workshops will soon be coming to four cities across Canada, and some of Canada’s top practitioners will be on hand to share knowledge with delegates. RSVP by October 15 for early-bird savings on tuition fees.

“I am very pleased to welcome Matthew Cho, CPA and partner with Cadesky Tax in Toronto, to discuss owner-manager compensation planning and asset management, including a full review of cross-border issues that is compulsory information for anyone working with clients who have Canada-US transactions,” says Evelyn Jacks, President of Knowledge Bureau.  Evelyn will open the session with a rundown on economic issues that mark trend lines for pre-budget consultations and investment strategies, as well as personal tax changes that advisors need to know about for the 2016 and 2017 tax years.

“In addition, Cheryl Norton, CPA, CA, CFP, from Sun Life, will join us in Calgary to discuss the transfer of family cottages or second residences, and planning with heirs, including an update on how the Graduated Rate Estates have changed the planning landscape. We will be announcing additional speakers next week.”

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:  Designed for the busy tax and financial professional, these one-day workshops are custom-designed to provide the most recent advanced updates from CRA, Finance Canada and Statistics Canada, and to provide strategies for applying new rules and interpretations to compliance and planning scenarios for clients using cutting-edge technology.

CE/CPD CREDITS AVAILABLE:  Ideal for training new and returning staff, professionals may earn 10- CE/CPD credits and participate in important networking opportunities to build their businesses.

WHEN AND WHERE?  Delegates  may join us in four cities:  October 27 in Vancouver, November 1 in Winnipeg, November 2 in Toronto, and November 3 in Calgary.

WHY IS THIS TIMELY? If you are working as a professional in the tax, bookkeeping or financial services and preparing tax returns, books or tax-efficient retirement and investment plans for your clients, it is critical to know personal and corporate tax changes for the 2016 tax filing year in order to discuss strategies and to plan tax-efficient income as well as capital acquisitions and dispositions for individuals, families and multiple generations. This workshop will refresh and update your knowledge and skills in advance of tax and RRSP season and the 2017 business tax year, and will allow you to work with your clients and their families before year-end to structure their affairs properly to avoid punitive taxes.
