Incorrect Payment Dates on Notice of Assessments

Notice of Assessments received by many Canadians who have filed their 2019 individual tax returns indicate an incorrect payment date of April 30, 2020. However, the extended deadline of September 1 to pay any balances due does still apply.

At this time, the CRA is also warning that they have been experiencing technical difficulties with their phone system, and wait times are not available for anyone looking to speak with a representative.

It comes as no surprise that the implementation and distribution of the many new emergency relief benefits has had an impact on the administrative processes and has altered typical service standards.  CRA has done an admirable job given the enormity of all these tasks.
