Dan Kelly - President, CEO and Chair of CFIB

Dan Kelly serves as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). In this capacity, Dan is the lead spokesperson and advocate for the views of the Federation’s 109,000 small and medium-sized member businesses. Dan has served on dozens of provincial and federal committees and task forces and has represented Canada’s small businesses at the International Labour Organisation in Geneva. He currently serves on Finance Canada Payments Consultative Committee (FINPAY) and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Advisory Committee.

In 2019, Dan will be speaking about POWERFUL COMPETITORS: The Rise of Small Business in the New Gig Economy.

Dr. Dean Smith President, Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd.

Dr. Dean Smith, PHD, CFP, TEP, CPA, CA is a partner with Cadesky and Associates LLP and the President of Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. Cadesky is a boutique accounting firm which provides only taxation services. Dean has been involved with expatriate tax work for over 23 years assisting companies moving employees around the world. Clients also include private individuals who have multiple jurisdictional filings. Dean is also an instructor and writer with Knowledge Bureau.

Jean-Pierre Laporte, BA, MA, JD – CEO. Integris Pension Management Corp

Jean-Pierre Laporte, BA, MA, JD is CEO of INTEGRIS Pension Management Corp. and a pension lawyer. He has written extensively on pension matters and is often called as an expert witness before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. For his work on improving pension legislation in Canada, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in October 2012.

Lysa leverages her extensive financial and wealth management knowledge when establishing best practices for Manulife Bank’s business banking, private banking and trust offering.

Lysa is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Patrick Gill - Regional Vice President of Central and Atlantic Canada , Manulife Bank & Trust​

Patrick Gill is the Regional Vice President of Central and Atlantic Canada for Manulife Bank & Trust. He has been in the banking and financial industry for over 19 years. Patrick has enjoyed many successful years in the mortgage industry. He was the recipient of Manulife’s prestigious Stars of Excellence award recognizing outstanding service to the company, while tirelessly assisting his peers and business unit partners with leadership and sales coaching skills.

Allan Jacks - Sr VP, Business Development, Knowledge Bureau

Al’s passion is helping great people and organizations ensure they have the resources to achieve great things.

As the Sr. VP of Business Development his role is to recruit, train and coach Knowledge Bureau staff to help grow the business and reputation of Knowledge Bureau by building strong relationships with tax, accounting and financial services professionals and organizations.

Jenifer Bartman CPA, CA, CMC - Founder and Principal, Jenifer Bartman Business Advisory Services

Jenifer Bartman is the Founder & Principal of Jenifer Bartman Business Advisory Services, assisting companies in transition (i.e., early, financing, growth, and succession stages). Service areas include business and succession planning, growth strategies, financing readiness, executive coaching, and performance improvement. Jenifer is well known for her venture capital and early stage financing expertise, having been an executive in the industry and an advisor to many young companies.

She is the instructor of four certificate courses in the Knowledge Bureau MFA™ programs and is the lead instructor for the MFA™-Executive Business Growth Program . She has also been a speaker at both The Distinguished Advisor Conference (DAC) and The Distinguished Advisor Workshop ( CE Summits ) series and has co-authored the recently released Defusing the Family Business Time Bomb with Evelyn Jacks.

Joanne Sigurdson, B.Comm (Hons) - Executive Leadership Coach and Certificate Course Author

Joanne Sigurdson is the author of a certificate course in the Knowledge Bureau’s MFA- Executive Business Growth Program, entitled Leadership, Culture and Continuity.

Joanne Sigurdson is an optimistic seasoned Executive Coach and Business Consultant focused on assisting Executives and Business Owners grow their leadership skills to achieve their personal and professional goals. She has successfully worked with numerous businesses to help them establish and implement a plan for taking their organization to the next level.

Terri Williams, CFP

Terri Williams CFP ® has over thirty years’ experience in the financial services and investment regulatory areas where she is regarded as an investor advocate. Prior to retiring in 2018 as Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility at Scotiabank, Terri held several senior management roles including Vice President, Marketing, Global Wealth and Insurance, Scotiabank and President of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Investor Education Fund.

In both positions, she led the development and implementation of several financial literacy resources and programs for investors.

At DAC, Terri will be speaking on the topic of FINANCIAL CAPACITY: Working with Clients Who May Not Have It.

Kim Moody, FCA, TEP - Director, Canadian Tax Advisory, Moodys Gartner Tax Law LLP

Kim G C Moody FCA, TEP, is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner and a tax specialist practicing in Calgary as the CEO / Director Canadian Tax Advisory with Moodys Gartner Tax Law LLP / Moodys Private Client LLP. His main area of expertise is tax and estate planning for the owner-manager of private corporations, executives, professional athletes and other high net worth individuals.

Kim is the author of numerous articles, papers and courses on tax and estate planning and he has lectured extensively for a number of organizations on tax, estate planning and planned giving, including STEP and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He is a past instructor for the Certified Financial Planners designation and is a current tax instructor for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Accountants of Alberta Professional Development Program. Kim has also lectured as a guest faculty member of national educational institute, Knowledge Bureau.

Russ Sheppard, J.D. - Rockies Law Corporation

Russ is currently a lawyer living in beautiful Cranbrook, British Columbia Canada. Previous to law, Russ was a Teacher/Administrator and Dean of Students in both the Public and Private School Systems for 12 years spanning 5 provinces and territories. Russ was one of the founders of the internationally recognized Kugluktuk Grizzlies youth program that is featured in the Hollywood Movie The Grizzlies. The movie focuses on his effect on his students and his students' effect on him.

At DAC Russ will be closing with his keynote “POWERFUL COMPETITORS: The Grizzlies Story”
