Knowledge Bureau’s Business Valuation for Advisors course will help an advisor become a valuable resource to their clients when considering business valuation issues.
Knowledge Bureau’s Business Valuation for Advisors will help a tax and financial professional become a valuable resource to their clients as part of annual year end transition planning conversations. It has recently been updated by Jenifer Bartman, a Knowledge Bureau faculty member who spoke at the highly successful fall Distinguished Advisor Workshop tour this past week.
The objective of the course is to provide an overview of the fundamentals of business valuation, enabling advisors to understand the key concepts in this important area and assist clients in facing various types of business transactions, including mergers, transfer of an ownership position, sale of business, or raising capital.
Key concepts in the course include understanding the notion of value, company specific and market based approaches for estimating value, the key stages of the business transaction process, value and investment transactions, and the implications of financial performance on value.
This course will enable the student to understand the notion of value and the relationship between business transactions and value, differentiate between company specific and market based approaches to estimating value, as well as the strengths and limitations of these approaches, and identify some situations that could impact value, including qualitative factors and market/industry developments, to name a few of the skillsets students will gain through taking this course.
The Business Valuation for Advisors course is part of the Succession and Estate Planning Specialist, Master Financial Advisor (MFA) and Business Services Specialist Master Financial Advisor (MFA) programs. Jenifer Bartman has also recently updated the Accounting for Business Growth and Transition course.
“Great course for anyone looking to understand the importance of a business evaluator and the process that they use,” said Knowledge Bureau student Todd W. from Alberta. “I found the material to be well written and the flexibility of the course was a plus – to work at your own pace." - Todd W., Alberta.
