An Empowered Presence is at the Heart of True Wealth

We all know people who immediately capture our attention.  I’m not referring to people whose physique or loud voice is overpowering and intimidating, keeping us at a distance, but those who have that distinct magnetism that draws us closer.

There’s something about them that is intriguing and difficult to articulate, but we know that they possess the power to captivate.  What compels us to take notice?  Here is the essence of presence:

1. Presence is not for the few, but it can be cultivated and developed by all.
2. Physical attractiveness can increase presence but relying on one’s looks alone isn’t sustainable over time. 
3. Presence originates deep inside you – when you love and accept yourself, you can be poised and comfortable in your own skin.  Only then can you fully concentrate on others and give of yourself.
4. The first step in empowering your presence is having a clear understanding of who you are (your personal brand), and the value that you bring to others.
5. Presence is not about being overbearing but about engagement and personal connection - being completely present and available to people, whether with one or 1000.
6. Many shy people have great presence.  They are often more believable than those who are aggressive and outgoing because they don’t give the impression that their interests are central, instilling more trust in themselves and their ideas. 
7. The magnitude of presence is its ability to build meaningful relationships that deeply change people’s lives.
8. People with presence are generous, pushing their agendas aside, so that they can be completely present, recognize others’ intrinsic values and empower them by reflecting back what they see in an affirming manner.
9. Living with an empowered presence is not about learning a few quick tips to make you stand out, but involves aligning your intentions and everything in your environment with who you are, and then communicating it to everyone you meet in an authentic and confident manner through your personal brand and image.
10. Every time you cross paths with someone, you have an opportunity to touch them in a memorable way with your presence. You can either pass the person by, or you can give them the gift of listening, empathizing and being fully present with them in a rich and meaningful way. This is the essence of having an empowered presence, and irrefutably, it is at the basis of having true wealth.
