This Month’s Poll

Studies suggest OAS clawbacks should begin when household income reaches $100,000. Alternatively, OAS should be postponed to age 67. Do you agree?

OAS should start at 68 but do not change the threshold for the clawback.

No to both.  With our current economy, $100,000 is not much of a household income to survive on.  And with life expectancy rates declining, 67 is not at all reasonable.

Yes to delay until 67   No to OAS clawbacks to begin when household income reaches $100,000.00   $100,000.00 is not a lot of money for a couple who have worked hard and try to maintain a decent level of living after retirement.  If anything the current income before clawback begins should be increased.

Before endorsing the specific $100,000 proposal, I would want separate treatment of singles and couples, inflation indexing, clear definitions of family income, protection for lower-earning spouses, and substantial notice for people approaching retirement.
