New Fast-Track Makes Back to School Easy for Pros

Knowledge Bureau is pleased to introduce a one year certification and designation program entitled Fast-Track.

This accelerated program of study is targeted at experienced tax and financial advisors who want to add the distinction of the Distinguished Financial Advisor or Master Financial Advisor designations to their credential or that of their teams, and wish to fast-track through entry level requirements. Registrations are being accepted now until September 15 for the fall term.

HOW DOES IT WORK? The three-part curriculum—3 exemption exams, 3 instructor-led bootcamps and 3 online courses—provides the flexibility of a blended learning environment, exemption opportunities, classroom and online learning with the opportunity to choose specialized topics to fill specific knowledge gaps, all within one year. It’s fun and it’s fast!

WHO WILL BENEFIT THE MOST: Experienced advisors in the tax accounting and financial services industries who wish to expand their professional practices or sole practitioners who wish to build a multi-faceted professional practice. Candidates will:

  1. Participate in learning in a new field of practice through a blended learning environment—exemptions, online studies, in-class workshops and inter-advisory conferences. A great way to consolidate knowledge and build personal confidence.
  2. Qualify as a specialized practitioner in a new body of knowledge through a “fast-track” certification and designation process. This builds client trust, confidence and refers.

KEY COMPETENCIES – WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

DFA-Tax Services Specialist: The successful graduate will demonstrate competencies in T1 Tax preparation and planning as well as a basic understanding of T2 preparation for micro businesses:

  • T1 Tax Preparation: For individual and family filers: low income credit filers, employees, pre- and post-retirees, disabled taxpayers, rental property owners, investors, proprietors including service and inventory-based businesses, professionals, partnerships, farmers, fishers and others, death of a taxpayer, cross-border taxation.
  • T2 Tax Preparation:  Specialists will be able to complete basic T2 returns for micro-businesses.   

MFA – Business, Retirement, and Succession and Estate Planning Specialists:  The successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Business Services Specialist: Understand and demonstrate how to record in professional software, the transactions required to prepare financial statements and T1 and T2 Tax returns for the families of small and medium-sized business enterprises on start-up, throughout the lifecycle of the business from start-up, to mid-term growth and on transition to the next business owner.  
  • Retirement Income Services Specialist: Understand and demonstrate how to prepare tax-efficient investment and retirement income plans for investors who are accumulating and growing capital for pre-retirement. Complex withdrawal strategies to cover after-tax needs in retirement, while continuing to grow and preserve wealth for transition to the next generation, are also taught with cutting edge software & online calculators; all included with the courses.
  • Succession and Estate Planning Specialist: Understand and demonstrate how to manage risk and then how to best transfer capital from a variety of assets, on a tax efficient basis, to the next generation of family members, family business owners, employees or the community. Candidates will be familiar with language and concepts to work with business valuators, insurance and legal advisors.
